In Japan, emergency huts are unstaffed huts which are open year-round.
This one is the most comfortable one I saw in Japan: isolation is good, it's clean, large… almost perfect!
There's no water available, though you came get some in any of the two closest staffed refuge (20mn to the N or 35mn to the S). Take care to bring a mattress and sleeping bag even though there are a few blankets. During summer, this hut is most likely packed by Tokyoites. There are several camping grounds -most likely for a fee- a bit down and close to the staffed huts.
