Description
It takes 3 hours for around 7 km
Ascent
Head SW to pass between two small rock barriers to the foot Schwarzkopf. Then S on gentle slopes to reach the foot of Vadret da Radönt that you go up continuing S towards Rothorn Furgga. Shortly before it, fork towards the W to enter a small cirque dominated by Radüner Rothorn where there is a small lake at the bottom You can then either skirt the lake or go directly up the slopes which become steeper and give access to the S ridge of Radüner Rothorn. You can reach the summit either on skis or on foot depending on the snow conditions.
Descent
By the same route.
Remarques
- The starting altitude allows a good snow cover and avoids carrying your skis until late in the season.
- S4 then S3 for 100m between the summit and the small lake. S3 for 40m to the foot of the Schwarzkopf and for the slope under the substitution "summit". Otherwise S2.
- N overall. SE for the final slope of the Radüner Rothorn and for the slopes of the base. E for the substitution "summit".
- If the summit is too much crowded, the extension of the S ridge of Radüner Rothorn can be a pleasant substitute "summit" (2960m) which is reached via an obvious slope after the small lake towards the W.
- You can combine it with Schwarzhorn (3146m), the other major summit of the massif. To do this, you reach a flat area at the foot of Vadret da Radöntand and traverse the N ridge of Radüner Rothorn. The head W until Schwarzhornfurgga, then NNW as far as the summit.
- If you want to stay in the massif for several days, you can reach Chamanna da Grialetsch (2542m) either via Rothorn Furgga (2884m), or lower in the valley via Fuorcla Radönt (2788m). Numerous routes are possible from this hut: Piz Sarsura Pitschen (3134m), Piz Sarsura (3174m), Fuorcla Sarsura (2923m), Fuorcla Vallorgia (2969m), Scalettahorn (3068m).
Matériel
- Vadret da Radönt is a small residual glacier which generally does not require specific equipment.
