This article details the use of Transifex to translate the camptocamp interface (UI) into several languages.
The camptocamp.org website is multilingual. The translation of the interface (UI) is done via the Transifex tool, which allows the multilingual management of the translation of all the elements of the interface. A robot takes care of the link between the interface code, where new strings of words appear with the developments, and the camptocamp account on Transifex.
Join the team of translators
To join the team of translators, you must first create an account on Transifex. Then, go to the Transifex page of the camptocamp association, ask to join the team in the languages you know and wait for the validation. Or, once your account is created, you can also write to topo-fr@camptocamp.org giving your account name, and you will receive an invitation.
Note that by default, the language of Transifex' interface is english. You can change it via the "english" blue menu at the very bottom right.
Translation
You are now a member of the translation team, now it is time to translate!
On the dashboard of the association's page, click on the "c2corg_ui" project in the left-hand column and then on "languages". Then click on the language you wish to translate, and on the blue "translate" button at the top right: you are now on the actual translation page. Please note that you can only translate into the languages for which you are part of the translation team (ask to join!), for the others no blue "translate" button.
By default, the source to be translated corresponds to the code strings (in English), you should rather translate from your mother tongue or French (reference). To do this, click on the cogwheel at the top right, and click on "Display the source string in English (United States) (en_US)", a drop-down menu appears where you select the most suitable language.
Then browse the untranslated or unedited channels and make your suggestions. Be careful to propose a translation in line with the existing translations (the "suggestion" tab can help), to respect the formatting (capitalization ...), and to remain concise.
Afterwards, a reviewer can validate your proposals so that they can be used on the site for the next update. When you feel comfortable, it is possible to ask for the rights of reviewer by email to topo-fr@camptocamp.org.
Bear in mind : new strings appear with the developments, come back every few months to translate the new ones! You can subscribe to an email alert by clicking the grey eye "follow" (top right, above the blue "translate") on the c2corg_ui page.
Note: you can also propose a new language for the interface and the content, by following the following procedure.
