description

One of the most beautiful mountains of the central Andes, N of mighty Aconcagua in the Gussfeldt basin in the upper reaches of the rió de Vacas (quebrada Vieja Alta). To the NE, the portezuelo del Indio allows access to the rio de los Patos and the Ramada range where the Mercedario is to be found.

The mountain presents a long SW ridge which offers numerous snow couloirs exposed to the SE. One of them is the central canal (AD/D).

There are pictures in the electronic Kooch magazine (here: http://www.revistakooch.com.ar/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=213&Itemid=28, in spanish) and on SummitPost (here: http://www.summitpost.org/mountain/rock/150968/la-mano.html).
