Set up the the Company du Mont Blanc and the Chamonix Guides in October 2016

This route consists of two parts. Firstly, a Via Ferrata, complete with stainless steel cable. Secondly, a Via Corda with which has climbing up to F3c and bolts indicating the way and protecting the more difficult sections.

Approach 20 mins
From the top of the Flegère cable car, follow the path which traverses over towards Planpraz, (signposted for "Via des Evettes" on the right immediately on exiting the cable car station. Follow this path, more or less horizontally at first, then down some steps, and again horizontally, passing some scree slopes below the start of the Via Ferrata. At a signpost, leave the main path and follow a faint path leading back up and right to the start of the route.
Route 1 Via Ferrata. Via des Evettes 1h30
Follow the cable and metalware, through several named sections, across a wire bridge until finally you arrive at the last challenge, a much longer wire bridge. It is possible to escape at two points before this last bridge, (signposted). After the bridge, the way back to the Flegère cable car station (20mins) is well signposted/marked. Alternatively, continue up the Via Corda.
Route 2 Via Corda. Pic Janvier 2h30 to 3h
Follow the exit path from the Via Ferrata for a short distance until there is a "paper" sign and faint path indicating the start of the Via Corda. This goes upwards at first first, then traverses right to a ridge line. Initially there is more vegetation than rock but do not lose heart, the route improves the higher it gets. Follow the bolts and green paint markings. There is a 10-15m abseil after about 1/3 of the way and a 35m abseil right at the end. It is possible to do the second abseil with a 50m rope (25m abseil) and down climb the last bit, or split the abseil half way, (at a single bolt.)
5-10min walk up to the top of the Index chairlift

As the Via Corda is still new, the rock requires respect in one or two places.
It is possible to omit the Via Ferrata by walking directly to the start of the Via Corda. Two signposts "Via Corda" above the Flegère station then two more signposts "Flegère" (pointing the opposite direction) and indicating the descent path from the VF.

Sensitive areas
There are sensitive areas on this route. Please refer to the map.
