description

Nice, varied route

Approach (35mins)

From the Index chair, follow the ‘Col des Crochues’ path. Upon arriving at the top of the Floria Button-tow, don’t go up to the left and the col des Crochues but instead continue to traverse over the boulder field (without losing height) until you reach the rockface. The start is to the left of a "Y" shaped gully.

Descent (2 possibilities)

  • Go eastwards by way of the Aiguilles Crochues traverse (W to E) with a return to the Lac Blanc and then the main path back to Flegere or Index.
  • Go westwards to the Col des Crochues by doing the Aiguilles Crochues traverse in reverse. Some down climbling (grade 3) and possibly abseils. From the col it is easy to get back to the Index chair.

remarks

  • Very well equipped route (Petzl bolts, belay rings/ chains).
  • Overall the rock is very good but exercise caution all the same.
  • Short pitches, with the opportunity to combine some.
  • Climb with your rucksack, as the descent does not pass the bottom of the route.
