route_description

As route in Jean-Baptiste Mang parked and hiked up from Relais Chalet across grassy meadows, over the stream and though some scrub. Skis on at 1400m, Skin tack post holed but not too bad up to Col de Plan Champ. skinned up on softening loose wet snow to 1780m. Left wife by bloc in the sun and skinned to bottom of couloir on unstable soft top layer of snow; too steep for skins. Bootpacked to the ridge, a couple of ups and downs on bare rock and arrived at summit Cross.

Down climbed the summer route having found a few inches of chain, (it was shady and stiffer snow) put skis back on after crossing fence. ski down through the trees was nice but too short!

skinned up to SW ridge of Sur Gemet and then down east side of ridge. difficulty route finding through trees until we found the forestry track. then through open field on thin snow. skis off at 1385 as track goes back into woods above Col de Corbier. walked back down to apartments and along road to the car.

weather and conditions

Sunny in the morning then high cloud in the afternoon. strong breeze in the Col. Hot!

Less rivulets than yesterday at La Berte and the day before at Pointe Ratti, but still evident. very thin snow on the Col (wind blown). Icy in trees and shade above 1500m very soft (surface) and wet and heavy in the sun.

avalanches

small purges from couloirs from a couple of days ago on the very steepest parts of the Mont Ouzon ridge.
