weather and conditions

From sun to hail and storm.

For me a challenging hike because of the length and state of the path. We went clockwise because we didn't find the little trail up Fort l'Ecluse. Wile approaching the summit we experienced hail and wind but fortunately it cleared a bit later. Watch out for the turn near Chalet Bizot - it's really not obvious and we forgot to turn (we went straight instead) and ended up backtracking 2km (visible on the GPS) - this cost us some time. Starting from Chalet Bizot the trail is just marvelous and well signed by the stone pyramids. It's worth getting away from the trail every now and then to see the cliffs. And then... our final part of the trail was the passage up the fort. That was one of the wildest path I have ever walked and on top of that it was very steep. We needed to go through bushes and sometimes it was not obvious where the path was but it was a lot of fun. I guess it would be much easier if we had taken this trail up instead of down and if it hadn't been so muddy.
Conditions on the trail:
- practically no snow (small caps but not on the trail)
- lots of mud and pretty slippery
