The traverse from Portè to Andorra la Vella is quite a long one that goes along the Campcardós, Engaït, Vallcivera and Madriu Valleys. The latter is a precious treasure since it is the only untouched valley in Andorra.

This route starts going up the long, wide valley of Campcardós, along the classic south access to the Pic Negre d’Envalira, until the Portella Blanca d’Andorra, which gives us access to the Engaït Valley. At the confluence with the Vallcivera River, there’s the strategic Esparvers Hut, where you’ll spend the night. The second leg allows us to climb the Ríbuls Peak and rewards us with the magnificent descent of the Madriu Valley.

Traverse of the Massís del Montseny

The approach to the climbing route is done mainly by bike. A short hike is needed to access the starting point of the route. The descent from the top is easy and short. There's time enough from the arrival of the first train of the morning until the departure of the last one in the afternoon.

The two routes described here are well equipped. The first one climbs La Roca Gran de la Portella, along the route Lapònia, whose beginning is at the bottom of an abyss that can be reached abseiling into it. The second one, Vicenç Soto, reaches the tip of l'Agulla de l'Arbret, whose access, as if it were a maze, meanders amid a succession of those rock pinnacles that give the name 'Agulles' to the area.

As for the Andorran side, if you chose the appropriate weekend, you'll manage to arrive to the very village of Soldeu skiing.
