SS38 > Morbegno > Talamona > dx SP16 per Tartano > dx SP11 della Val Tartano > Tartano 1210m.
Da Tartano seguire la strada che porta in Valle Lunga fino dove le condizioni lo consentono, in genere fino a quota 1340 in corrispondenza di una baita che vende prodotti caseari (slargo per lasciare l'auto).
In caso di forte innevamento la strada è chiusa con sbarra pochi metri dopo l'Hotel Vallunga 1210m ca.
Considerare da Tartano ad Arale 1h-1:30 a piedi.

Eccezionalmente, in stagione avanzata, si può proseguire fino a poco prima di Arale ca 1400m.
