This tutorial provides some help to handle the map tool on camptocamp.org.

You can zoom in/ zoom out the map with the mouse cursor, or zoom out at max using the PLanet pictogram.

It's possible as well to zoom on a chosen area with the Zoom pictogram.

  • A double-click on any part of the Map will center the Map on this point and will zoom to the upper level.
  • Using the mouse scroll wheel, you can simply zoom in /zoom out.
  • Holding the Shift key of the keyboard, you can choose an area to enlarge by delimiting it with the mouse cursor.

Coordinates of a point (pointed by the mouse cursor) are displayed under the Map.

You can copy the Permalink of the Map with its displayed objects (such as summits or huts...) and paste it elsewhere (forum, blog...).

With (and only with) the official French maps background (known as IGN), you can measure distances.





It is possible to get a list of objects (such as huts, crags...) :

First, zoom enough on the Map.

The select the objects you want to see displayed, then circumscribe an area in which you want these objects.

The list is then displayed under the map, and the objects on the map are highlighted by a green arrow.

To see where on the map is one of the objects of the list, please click next to the name (not on it) on the list : the green arrow is then enlarged to help you to locate the object.
